Hi all,
I've had a good read through this thread - i'm discussing a few cars at the mo MK6 GTI, 4 door, DSG with 18 in wheels (no other options)
its looking like $45k ish - which i think is ok
or $44 k with no options
Any idea's of whether or nor this is a good deal? I've heard of some proper bargains on here but thought i'd get thoughts etc
Cheers

and when dealers are asking close to $59k for a GTI with xenon, nav, leather, like this one
it's really becoming out of my budget and IMHO not worth to spend on such a small hatch, as it's getting into medium premium sedan territory with bigger space...

Settle down guys.
The price is within a few hundred (less!) of the calculator. It's a brand new car from a dealer. You are stupid if you think a dealer is going to advertise substantially LESS than the RRP on a new car, because otherwise everyone comes in and STILL EXPECTS 10% off the already discounted price they advertise!
Want proof? Just talk to Dermot. He tried advertising his cars with a discount and customers were simply unreasonable, so he put the prices back up!
The only thing which is concerning about the ad that you guys linked is that the pictures do not match the description (No leather, no sat nav, and I can't see whether it has a sunroof or not).
I'm not keen to post specifics on a public forum, but I will say my discount percentage was well into double digits. Some people suggest it's extremely difficult to get a good deal when buying in SA, but I managed a great price after obtaining a couple of interstate quotes, and being prepared to accept one if needs be.
I was very happy with the significant discount I ended up with.
