Thanks for that haha. I ordered mine half way through this month, and ive been given no ETA yet. Its just been hear say between (4 to 7 months).

so waiting 5 months isnt too bad I suppose. Ill post back when I get a call from the dealer regarding delivery dates.

    Leather
    Tint

    MDI (maybe)

I have been quoted $49650, you think it's a good price. I cant seem to get it any lower.

What are some prices you guys have got the car for?

    Thanks
You haven't mentioned whether it's a 3 or 5 door, or manual or DSG. I can gather it's a 5 door due to the Electric Driver Seat. I'm also going to assume that it's a DSG, because really, why would you want the manual - it's not even good in the MK6 GTI

Anyway - with the above statement in place, I calculate that as ~$55,065 on the road in VIC. So you've got about a $5415 saving, which is a 9.8% discount.

Sure, it's not the biggest discount we've seen here, but especially if you are not entitled to a corporate discount, 10% is really nothing to be upset about!

    Yeah sorry mate:

    5 door and DSG.

I want bluetooth but cant justify paying $900 bucks to get it dealer fitted.
For a 50k car you would think it would have bluetooth and MDI as standard!!

Yeah - for $900 you could very likely get the far superior Skoda bluetooth kit and from overseas and then have a local VW specialist like Volkspower install that for you. Check out the actual VW Car Audio and Electronics for more details.

MDI is only $270, so you should definitely get that. For that low amount it's not worth the hassle of trying to do some alternate solution.

I understand you having the opinion that these should be included as standard, but there are still a lot of people that would use neither. The Golf GTI does start at only $38990 (plus onroads) and really, if they included all the neat technologies that people might use, it would be more expensive. As it is, I still think that GTI is better value than any other car out there for price/performance/quality/features.

When people talk about the "standard bluetooth" is it a built in device?
The dealer today showed me a car with bluetooth, it was mounted on the right hand side and is a stand with a touch screen. I didnt like the look.
If i want bluetooth i want it integrated with no attachments.

What i didnt like about the MDI is that it is fitted into the center console. I use that for glasses, pens, cds etc. But if i have the MDI then i cant use the center console. I could fit it to the glove box for $500 bucks but then the phone is too far away.
I have the Tom Tom Car Kit so am thinking to just use that.

Anyone in melb get a better price then what i have been quoted so i can get from there?
Also is it worth waiting for the MY2011 as it is already almost April and with the wait time the new model will prob be out?

    Thanks

Yes, built in, it adds no additional buttons or components to the car which are visible to the occupants. It's still fitted by the dealer as an accessory though.

Yeah - that is some new accessory which has started popping up. I agree, it is terrible.

But check the actual forum that deals with this, there is a great thread at the top by Swallowtail which details all this.

I think that you just need to think about things a bit more.
    1) CDs? What would you be carrying them for? The entire purpose of the MDI is that you can carry your entire music collection and therefore have no NEED for CDs. In any case, the glove box is well and truly large enough to carry a CD wallet.
    2) There is a dedicated compartment for glasses above your head in the centre
    3) I'm pretty sure there is a dedicated slow in the glove box for a pen or two.
    4) there is also another cubbie to the right of the driver on the dash.
    5) If you're still short of storage there is the possibility for underseat drawers (I can't find whether these are standard or come with an option like leather etc or are an accessory).

If you went and used a Tom Tom Car Kit, then you're not going to have the intergration anyway. Which would be a shame.

Yeah i know i don't need the center console for like CD's n stuff.
I guess with the crappy car that i am driving now (91 Celica) i am used to putting stuff in the center console as it is an easy storage device to get to quick without taking your eyes of the road.
I currently have the Tom Tom car kit for the celica but even if i get bluetooth on the GTI i can still use the car kit for the enhanced GPS.
But then if i get the MDI for the iphone i cant use the Tom Tom car kit for the GPS and stuff. So yeah i just have to decide what i want.

Can you still get the MDI fitted after you have the car?

I believe the MDI in the centre console is fitted in the factory so if u want to add it on after u have the car, it'll have to be in the glovebox

Yep, and probably cost ~$500 instead of only $270 as per the factory option.

Yeah i would prob rather wait and then get it fitted to the glovebox.

The the Skoda bluetooth void the warranty of the car?
