    Black 5-door
    6M (real gear shifting)
    Media kit

    That's it.....nothing fancy, drive away, $46,000
Is this a reasonable offer do you think..?
I've yet to push for a hard deal, though I am dealing with 2 yards operated by the same Company. Is it wise to play them against each other...???
doesnt sound like a good deal at all... unless you like me and in SA

I'm going to assume a 5 door otherwise the deal isn't really good.
On a 5dr, the 'drive away' price for that would probably be around $56,500 (hard to tell exactly, cause there are a few variables in drive away prices, and things like 'dealer tint' can really be a big variable - I've allocated $400 to that).

So based on that you're getting a $5k discount - or 8.8% which is good but not quite the 10 to 12% several people have managed.

Edit: Sorry, you also forgot to say whether it was Metallic paint or not! Oh well... Metallic paint will add $512.50 to the on road price in VIC.

ok sorry my bad. its a 5 door red so no metallic paint. The dealer tint i got includes both front and rear tinting. for your estimate of $56,500, how much did u include for dealer delivery?

    Hi Nau,

I have been looking at the same pretty much:

    GTI Manual
    5 door
    Tornado Red
    MDI interface
    MDI cable
    Tinted Windows

Have been quoted $39818 drive off the lot including all charges. Yes i have corporate discount for this price. Car is being built as we speak and due for delivery end of May. Which suits me as this is when i need it.

Just to give you an idea of what others have been able to negotiate. May not be the best out there but i am happy with the price and that i can get the car when i want to.
    Cheers

I did use corp discount though.
    Cheers Doug.
Yeah, I've only just begun price shopping, this thread is a great guide.
I will see about the 18's...I do like the appearance of them over stock.
Around the 41-42 mark including wheels would be ok with me...I'm an average guy with simple tastes...
    Thanks man.

It is possible to get a better price than that in SA. For a start, if you take your best interstate price to your local dealer and ask them to match or better it, they just might. Worked for me.

care to share contact? I did and I got 47k best offer on a same car (after I asked them to match it)
so at this stage about to get it from ViC and go wit the whole car from interstate process which is a bit of a pain but still works out to be cheaper by 2.5-3k

I dealt with Ashley Matthews and Chris Clarke at Medindie. My father has a pair of VWs in Sydney and had obtained a couple of good quotes for me from there, so I walked in with a printout of the best sales offer I'd received. I was prepared to buy from NSW if the price differential necessitated it, but the local guys were great and undercut the Sydney dealer. I'm very pleased I was able to deal locally, and would definitely recommend Ashley and Chris.

Okay well over the next couple of weeks ill be going to some VW Dealers around Victoria to see what they can offer me on the following:

Golf GTI 3 Door DSG: $45,696.93 (price according to the VW Website)
    White or Red.

    Satellite Navigation RNS510: $2500
    Media Device Interface: $270
    Park Assist: $1400
    Reversing Camera: $500
    Adapative Chassis Control: $1500
    Xenon Headlights: $2000
    18” Detriot: $1200

    Roughly $55,066.93
    ($9370 on options)

Excluded Bluetooth, Floor Mats, Boot Liner, Scuff Plates. (no pricing on those)

I was trying to find that excel spreadsheet to compare what price other people have been getting, and I cant seem to find it?

anyways people have been mentioning to aim towards a 8% to 12% discount? is that about right?

    8% Discount = $50,600
    9% Discount = $50,050
    10% Discount = $49,500
    11% Discount = $48,950
    12% Discount = $48,400

    What are peoples thoughts?
