Thanks, I'm glad people find it helpful.
I haven't created one for any other state, as I didn't have time to look into all the different rules for each state. You basically just need to go to the 'Roads Authority' for your state (Vicroads in your case) and look at their stamp duty, registration and 'premium plate' costs, and adjust those three fields accordingly. The CTP will also change, but that changes slightly for each person anyway!
For VicRoads, the stamp duty page is here
Any car under $57,009 attracts a 2.5% stamp duty, and any car above that attracts 5% stamp duty on the entire amount!. Keep in mind that stamp duty is calculated on the cost of the car + options + GST + LCT.
So C35 needs to be changed to (without spaces... the site seems to be adding one between the last brackets):
=IF(((B32+C33+C34)-57009)>=0,(B32+C33+C34)*0.05,((B32+C33+C34)*0.025) )
Unfortunately it seems VicRoads calculates registration fees based on the type of vehicle AND the post code of where it is garaged, which makes it really hard to determine the figure you'll pay here... but then I'm a NSW's person, so maybe I'm not understanding their calculations properly![]()
So I had a test drive this afternoon of a Black DSG, no other options, wonderful car I have to say, take a bit of getting used to the DSG and the accel, but very nice indeed.
So sat down for a chat with the salesman afterwards, really happy with him no pressure but outlined everything to do with the car, really knowledgable, and then gave me a price for my preference:
5 door
Red
DSG
MDI thingy
Rear parking sensors
So first I get the corp discount, nice, didnt realise I could, then a further discount, so all up car offered to me, if still available when ordered, for delivery in 3 days priced at just over $44.5k no pushing from my end..
Question is can i twist the wifes arm for the big yes![]()
Sounds like a good deal, you're getting about $4700 discount based on the assumption that 'Rear Parking Sensors' are valued at $700 like they used to be on the MK5. Which brings me to a question. Are the Rear Parking Sensors dealer fit? Because the GTI doesn't have that as a factory option. You either have Park Assist (with park sensors front and rear) for $1400 or Rear View Camera for $500.
Not sure about what the parking sensors actually meant, I asked for them and he added them so no 100% sure if its just the sensors or the whole hog??
But the car is in the system and as is, no dealer fitting required, so must be factory (i think)...
O and the $44.5k price was with metallic paint, forgot, so it was just under $44 drive away price in the red.
O and I think the wife has been sufficiently worn down so that the purchase is my decision.....hopefully!!!!!
Well, if you have the full park assist, and your drive away price is only $44k, then you've got like a $5k discount there! That's awesome. Snap it up man!
Went to Chatswood Classic Cars today to test drive and ask about GTI. Got to say love the car! Didn't really talk price, just went to ask on delivery times and he said approx May for the specs i want which are:
Candy White
5 Door
Xenons
18" Wheels
MDI
Or i could get a fully stock which i can get in 2-3 weeks. So atm still deciding what to do!

Yeh they sting us good!! How many times can they double dip? The stamp duty/LCT will really add too the cost of a Golf R when they get here!
Using your updated formula gives a good enough idea of pricing with the options I'm after. Will see how it compares to the dealers! Just sussing out if I'm eligible for corporate discount first.
But looking at an RRP of just over $52k for Candy White 3dr, DSG, Leather, Sunroof and MDI. If I find a dealer willing to talk a figure under ~$47k for delivery next year then I'm in! Like the sound of ACC but doubt I'd notice it and Xenon starts to push the price up a bit, need to save the pennies for some nice aftermarket wheels![]()
