Technically there's money to be saved by getting the sat-nav off Ebay and installing it yourself (although you'll need to buy (or borrow) a $300 cable to get the car to recognise it). A few of us have done it with no probs.

    Genuine = $2500 (used to be $3200)
    Refurbished via Ebay ~ $1000
Takes about 1-2 hours depending how careful/slow you are. You don't need the cable/laptop straight away, you'll just miss a couple of features until you get around to it.

    5DR
    DSG
    Bi-xenons
    Leather
    BT
    MDI
    RRP is $54,023.
That seems expensive for a GTI doesn't it? People have gotten an R for that much. We got our R (5dr, manual, 19"s, leather, sat nav, dynaudio, acc) for 60.

I would keep the ACC. Not having it isn't the same as having it in comfort mode. It monitors the suspension 1000 times a second. All reports i've read say it's a must have. I could tell you what it's like, but i've got a 6 month wait!
You should be able to get around a 10% discount.

Tell the dealer that you want to get the car serviced by them, as they make more money though servicing than selling cars. If you don't get the price you want, tell them you'll be shopping around.

I wouldn't get a demo.. We know how they get driven...

With these specs u mentioned and detroits I could have driven away with $48k (car was instock but was silver).. Take a look on carsales as dealers have stock on there.. Look in every state as the dealer will get you that car.. I was looking the other day and there was a tornado red polo gti with xenons and LEDs from a dealer in brissy

OK a very happy fella today. Ordered a new MY12 candy white GTI with Vienna leather

Got it for 45 drive away which is a pretty good price here in SA I think?

I've also been told that its in the country, so will be able to pick it up within the next 3-4 weeks (or less depending on where it has to come from)

Anyone want to buy a diesel 2006 Jetta??

Well done mate. Did you get the manual or DSG? I have a few more months to wait yet with mine... the days and months just drag for some unknown reason!

5dr DSG and leather. No other options as the only other ones I was interested in were the MDI and Bluetooth, both of which as std with the MY12.

Just waiting for confirmation on the delivery date, but they are confident that I should get it by end September

    Duttons up in Murray Bridge.

Tried to call Solitaire 1/2 a dozen times on Sunday to ask if they had a GTI with std seats that we could check out. No-one in sales would pick up the phone so we called Murray Bridge who had one.

We went up there to have a look, decided on the leather seats (they had another GTI with leather up there so we could hop between the two), did the negotiating and they came back on Monday with $45k which was my offer.

Pretty happy with the way they do business. For servicing they will bring down a courtesy car to Adelaide pick up my car take it back, service it then return it as part of the service cost.

Now they probably include the courtesy car in the service charge, but it's the fact that they pick up and drop off that makes it a good service!

Murray Bridge is 55ks outside Adelaide for those who are not familiar with South Australia

Sounds like you got a very good deal mate, well done. I'd settle for a MY12 Candy White 5dr, DSG with Dynaudio for 44k but I'm suffering dealer lethargy right now.
