Well, he's Austrian. Which is like a German with extra arrogance.

Since arriving in Australia circa 1954 he's had a VW bug, Datto 1100, HQ Kingswood wagon, the original 1600 camira, Sv21 Camry wagon & now that Camry that all the pensioners drive around in - about 10 years old? He can't understand why anyone would spend the extra on a car from Europe - even an ex-Eastern block country like Czech republic.

The base engine in the Jetta in the USA is the OLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLD 2L 8V 85kw engine.
OPtional is the 2.5L I5 with about 125kw or the 103kw TDI
So in essense the USA get all the old motors and we get all the new ones

The other point is that the VW products are invariably more expensive than their competitors.

$100 voucher
Total of options = $2870
Total = $43360

So an extra $1300 savings found there PLUS the $3900 saving off full on road price.
$5200 saving on a 47K car. Not bad.

Other manufacturers have to do this to shift their cars. Volkswagen rarely have sales especially when you compare them to some of the others that have non stop discounting which cheapens their brand and screws resale.

You should be pretty happy that deal. If you suck at haggling you wouldn't have got a deal that good outside of the current promotion period.

Dark tinted tail light clusters with LED technology (I am telling the wife this is for safety )
adidas badges on left and right B-pillars (I'll see if I wanna scrub that off, but it doesn't really bother me that much).
“White Stripes” red stitching Vienna leather sides and cloth center seat upholstery (haven't found a single person that likes this )
Electrically adjustable lumbar support for front seats (Isn't this standard? It is on our MkV GTI with fabric seats)
Individually heated front seats (I am hearing conflicting reports of this.. does it or doesn't it?)
Brushed aluminium decorative inlays in dashboard and doors (gimmicky)
Carpet floor mats front and rear, with red loop-stitching on the edges (wife did ask for this specifically)

I thought the Optical Parking Accessory is for front and rear?
