I find that the throttle 'clicks' if you floor it. Anyone knows what it does? I know that in manual mode if you push the throttle past this 'click' it'll automatically downshift.

sounds like the kickdown switch. if you floor the pedal i think it overrides the dsg logic and kicks you down a gear. it's obviously more complicated than that but someone's probably written a thread about it somewhere. ah, there you go.

had my GTI since Nov, love the car, one thing i am trying to get used to is the RCD-510 sound system... it is a little "strange" e.g. can't display the time of day (clock) and i don't get the logic of the controls on the steering wheel for changing radio stations e.g. start listening to FM radio preset no 1, then press the "next" button on the wheel (->) and it chooses the next preset (no 2), which is fine....HOWEVER, after a few mins of listening to FM preset no2, if i press the "next" button on the wheel, it goes back to FM preset no1.... it seems to lose track of where it is after a certain period of time

unfortunately the user guide for the RCD-510 is designed to cover every model in the world so is too generic to be helpful for this question...

apart from this, a great car

Hey mate, have a look through the setup menus.
I don't have that model, I've got the RNS-510, but in the setup there is an option for for time display. There is also an option for whether the "next" button on the radio navigates to the next present, or the next item in the FM station list.

thanks Corey_R, done all that, the dealer said "can't display time with RCD-510"

also tried changing the option for "next" - it got me to where i am now...it was even stranger before that...

not sure of the interface design on the RCD-510, it isn't a major issue, just strange...

The user interface is far from intuitive. I gave up working out to switch music using the steering wheel controls because it required too much thought and therefore was distracting. #designfail

With regards to the time, I use the MFD to display the time.

I have MFD showing the time - it is the passengers who want to see the time they can't see the MFD

the first thing my daughter said when she got in the car is "where is the clock ?".....

lol, this has never ever happened to me. now that you mention it i suppose it's a good point, if you want it. couldn't you just tell them?

'at the exhaust blat the time will be: 3:10pm' grrrowwwwww *blat!*'

or you could hang a clock from the rear view mirror.
