My first mod: Philips Crystal Vision Halogens for the dipped beams and parkers. Looks fantastic, comparing them to my mates new BMW, looks like the same colour temp.

The H8 for the fogs and H15's for the DRL are a little harder to source..

EDIT: 2nd mod, thinking about an APR Stage 1. Quoted $1525 for a basic ECU upgrade, $1695 for a complete tuning program. Muller and Muller Lakemba.

ive noticed over the last few months an issue that i cant seem to find addressed anywhere else in these forums.

when i use my drivers side window, on the upswing it leaves several trail marks, like something has made itself a home in the recesses of my door and is smearing itself on the windows..... its not a big issue but it is really annoying......

is anyone else having this problem? hopefully when i take it in for a service the dealer will clean whatever is down there and seal it up properly (if thats the issue)

could be dead bugs or like me old v35 a common issue was an over-greased window guides/rail as car get used, humidity etc caused the grease to bleed.

if it's under warranty just try get dealer do it for you probably easier

Had this problem on a new Ford Laser in 1982.....dealer just cleaned some grease of the window mechanism so presume that will be all that is required.

everyone seems to be having the problem on their old cars.... 20 - 30 year old cars..... why is it happening to my brand newie! grrrr..... so no one has had this problem with their mk6 GTI? (well no one who has responded anyway).... interesting......

will definately be letting the dealer know when i take it in for a service next year

    cheers

My windows aren't great - but my car is overdue for a wash, so I'm not sure

It looks like a bit o grease got on rubber roller. Try clean it while the glass is coming up, move it up and down several times.

Same on mine blanch0b, both side.
Tried cleaning the sills (from the outside) but still get streaks even after the car has been let to dry for 3 days. The amount of dirt/streaks seems to be reducing over time/a couple of washes (i hope).

these are all year speed limits. because of this sensible approach to traffic management (stringent driver training backed up by enforcement) it's safer to ride bikes, scooters etc and to be a pedestrian over there. they also have bigger fines and stricter penalties for infringement. and autobahns aren't nearly as unrestricted as people think. i cringe everytime i see someone go on about how we should have them in australia. kind of like flying cars. awesome idea till you realise the bloke down the street who views bumpers and fenders as consumeables will get one too.

    on topic. good:
build quality. i thought the mkv was pretty good but the vi is better inside in almost every way.
lcd touchscreen making more options cheaper.
handling feels better (xds, or bigger rear sway?)
ea888 is a better engine, one of the best engines around i think.
dsg, again, hoping for another flawless experience. the slower (line and track) less precise manual never got a look in.
    seats are even better
from the a-pillar back the styling is better. especially the back. the mkv had a loveable but fat arse. this is much better. like a mkiv and v had a beautiful baby but then someone dropped it on it's face.

    bad:
not getting the rvc. i was in a hurry and i know i'll regret it and pay twice as much to have it installed after. bugger.
the driving experience is a bit more sanitised and less 'raw' than the mkv. this is subjective and it's maybe a little unfair but it's how it feels. but that is kind of a positive too, probably 'cos i'm getting old.
suspension could be a little less comfort oriented. guess i'm not quite old enough hey?
i want an auto open & close hatch dammit! factory, not diy. jesus i am getting old.
i also liked the mkv tartan pattern better, and the mkv headrests.

i don't know if like it better than the mkv but it's still damn good.

I find the new styling makes the car look lower than the mk5. Which is a good thing.
