See, people say that, but whats the difference if it doesn't have the original bumper and **** that came with it??? I understand if the chasis was bent or the floorpan needed banging back into shape but honestly, you wouldn't know the difference if you drove it and didn't get told. Oh well, either way, I mustn't have the disposable income of some of the guys on here cause I couldn't sell it and replace it even if I wanted :-P

Mate you are bang on the money.. I stacked my Subi 3-4 years back and the repair job was so good you just couldnt tell either by sight or drive. It hasn't developed any significant rattles, there has been 1 or 2 but I think they are more to age than the repair work.

I guarantee you it will come back in pristine condition and run fine.. the only thing that may present are the rattles and rubs as VW have a bit of a rep for that anyways.. but then again the repair job may fix the factory issues

Thanks mate Yeah I had a Celica back in 02 and that was in an accident where the front end was bashed in a fair bit more than the golf (I wasn't driving fortunately) and it came back better than it went in!

My car is with a panel and paint joint here in Perth that mainly deal with Lambo's and Masserati's. VW (Allianz) insurance are the best I have ever had and the fella said there were no panel shops down my way that he would trust with a high quality car. They apparently separate the shops into categories and mine went to a 'prestige' repairer. Now the wait is the only bummer

    Hey folks,

I bought an Edition 35 on the weekend at Berwick Volkswagen. Took the GTI for a test drive and asked them about the 35 and they had a look at what stock they had coming in. They said they had 3 Edition 35s coming in, one in black, one in red and one in white. I took the black one. They said they weren't sure of the date they would be here but he believed it would be late September.

Spooler, if distance is no object, could try Denlo Parramatta over here in NSW. They still had their entire allocation free when I was looking around...possibly because their answer to "what can you do for me" is "we won't budge, not a cent".

Welcome aboard and congratulations on your purchase. Looking forward to hearing how it drives. I'm going to ask the obvious question... did you pay sticker?

No real flexibility on the price, a bit of a case of "if we don't sell it to you we'll sell it to someone else pretty soon". I'm probably not the most price sensitive person to start with though and I've got some good contacts in the finance side of things so I'm going to save a bit on that side.

As for the details on the car I went for, it is the DSG, black and apart from that is basically the standard edition 35 per the press releases. I didn't really have a choice on the options, it was more a case of what stock they had coming in, but I can live without things like a sunroof and leather seats. That stuff isn't too important to me, its the driving that is!

Hey guys, spoke to the dealer this afternoon (managed to get past reception this time). Looks like my 35 is in-country and with Patricks (in fact, has been with them since mid-Aug). Apparently should be ready to go within the next 10 or 12 days. Still waiting on attachment of the compliance plate and the wash/vacuum according to the tracking details on the dealer portal. VIN has KZC halfway through, which should be a MY12 based on information in other threads.

    Not long to go now....

Good to know they are getting closer! I’m actually going to be overseas until 10 October, so hopefully will be able to pick up my GTi when I get back.

Out of curiousity, I just spoke to APR to see if they had received word on any available tunes for this car – I wasn’t sure given it’s a GTI with an R under the hood.

Well, for $1495 the Stage 1 tune will increase the kw from 179 to 229, and increase the 300Nm to 439Nm! Holy ****. Anyone know what that will do to the car in reality? I know very little about this stuff but that torque increase seems huge. Will the rest of the car be able to handle the extra grunt? What sort of testing do APR do with these tunes before releasing them to the market? Before I did this I’d want to know it wasn’t going to cause any great issues. Definitely seems like $1500 well spent though!

Mate get ready for locomotive torque , did it to my skoda rs , awesome in the country , lazy driving , no downshifts required for overtaking , economy just as good .

Bit more torque steer , no tricky diff like the mk6 .

Now waiting till xmas to do the new gti , they usually have their 15% off sale in december , although they have dropped prices from $1795 last year ,OZ dollar so good .
