Seriously... does this really need to be the 1846th MK6 vs MKV thread in this forum?

Probably not.. but the Edition 35 has sort of recreated the conversation by using MkVI shell and fixtures yet used the MKV engine
so it was sort of inevitable that it has come up.. personally I don't care that much nor driven a GTI VI for long enough to articulate any noticeable difference.

Has me scratching my head really as to why VW do this mix and match

Yeah, I know, the R and 35 both use the EA113 engine... so we've already been through this pointless argument so many times.

The reason why is already known. There is currently no "High Performance" version of the EA888, only the EA113.

We go through this argument because MkVI GTI owners choose to make it one instead of accepting that their cars aren't as fun to drive as the R or the MkV GTI.

You just had to pull out the big wooden spoon and stir ...

I am not a VW nutter, the R is my first German car and it has been a most enjoyable experience so far. It has introduced the word "fun" back into driving.

The flipside in reading all these forums is the way in which VW owners can become so 1 eyed over the flavour of the make up of a particular model..

    Gives me a chuckle

I only stir it when MkVI GTI owners start getting upset for no reason. Eh? Adam.

That is seriously one of the most arrogant comments I've heard. Each person has their own tastes in cars. Just leave it at that.

Yawn, we all know how you feel about the GTI mkVI, you continually remind us after all. I am rapt with my ride, still brings a smile to my dial, have no need to compare it to the R or mkV, both are also great cars IMO. As my first VW and turbo, this car is fun enough for me Your negativity about my choice won't change that LOL

That is a good attitude to take and the best approach to things.
