    austral has a red manual still unsold after 7 weeks. shows that the market does not want a manual car at all

    Sounds like my GTI.....was a demo for 4 months. Never got driven.....lucky me!

    I think you might a little premature in announcing the total rejection of manuals after all the Australian preference for automatics (in whatever form or configuration) has been around for a long time.

    yes i suppose we live in traffic jams and very few pol want to shift gears. but i agree, on an open road, cant beat manual....

    although who can resist the dsg 'farting'?

    went to gold coast vw today, they have a red ed35 with all the toys rrp 58k

    Mine is manual, wouldn't have it any other way. Also my legs are strong enough to drive it in traffic so there!

    Damn $58k is expensive.... i paid $55 for a well optioned R.

    Having seen one of these at the Altona Beach meet, and a MK4 golf with 25 Anniversary wheels in tow, it really is a suitable nod to the past and having discounted it before I saw one in person I can safely say I'm now a fan
