Lol... I'm having a chuckle at the reasons... lazy, old, can't be f'd, and thinking that there is any difference in seat space and wheel base between 3 door and 5 door models... lol
My wife likes 3 doors. But everytime we have to give someone a ride, she's always relegated to the tiny backseat on account that she's petite. I think she's sworn off 3 doors at the moment. Shame really. We don't have kids and practicality isn't an issue.

Then don't post SilvrFoxX. No one is making you contribute...
No..Corey_R it is not the posting that is the issue it is the complete dismissal of a rational view.. taken out of context.. but that is the last I will say on the matter.. will leave the final comment to you

Well, I don't believe at all that I've dismissed a rational view. In each of my posts I've said that consumers should have the choice. I feel that you (specifically) have dismissed my rational view several times. But hey, each to their own.... or not, as VGA are denying some people that choice - which is what started this entire line of topic
I believe all you need to be a "hot hatch" is:
1 - a hatch with 2 or 4 doors
And
2 - a performance motor
Thus the 2 and 4 door GTI and r are both hot hatches IMO and in the opinion of most biased and unbiased motoring enthusiasts
Full stop!

I agree with Corey, if we are to take the Mk1 Golf GTI (sporting Golf) as the "father" of the hot hatch phenomenon. Then hot hatches have traditionally been 3Dr and other manufacturers have followed suit with their own 3Dr hot hatches. The Pug 205, Renault 5 turbo, Ford XR3.
Even sporting models of local cars have always been 2Dr. e.g. Charger, Holden Monaro, Ford XC Falcon Cobra.
History is on the side of Corey's argument.
