GOLF GTI delivery dates

I ordered mine in November and was told recently by the dealer that it is already sitting at a port in German awaiting shipment. It will take another month or two to get here in Australia. I am surprise that it is taking so long to ship.

I doubt it mate.. i added satnav like 2 wks before lol I guess thats easier to fit than leather but still.. you have ages!

Satnav can be retro-fitted by the dealer where as leather includes heated seats and electonic controls for the driver and as such will not be able to be retro-fitted.

i've ordered about 2 weeks ago. i havent got a commission number yet.. .should i be hassling for it? and i thought i need another number to online tracking. how come the dealer said he will only give me a COMM number?

Just wait it out.
Unless you have a deadline that you need the car for there is no point.

The dealer will only get the vin number when the car is ready to be built which you can then use to track your car.
Hassling them about it won't make the car get built any quicker, there is a massive undersupply of cars and so many on order that waiting times are out to at least 4-5 months now.

well what is the use of a commission number?

Commission number is what VW use to track the order, the preparation for the car, and the car prior to and during production. The VIN number is assign at some point during production.

It doesn't sound like the dealer gets the VIN number until the car is practically rolled off the production line and ready for shipping.

(at least that was my understanding of a post somewhere on these boards from a VW dealer).

how many months was the wait?

I ordered it in mid December, the car was a pre-configured one that had already been scheduled for build.

wow - you seem to be extremely lucky to have ordered the car in Mid-December and to have it built in week 51.
That would tend to lend weight to the dealers who have said that the VW factory builds different models in batches (ie, TDI's in one week, GTI's in another etc).
