Have you looked at Audi TT diesel i beleve it is all wheel drive and has the a similar (if not the same) 125Kw engine as the GTD, but it does cost a lot more compared to the Golf and A3.

Yes, I had a demo TT TDI as a loan car while getting the S3 serviced recently. Only available in manual AFAIK...and the manual I drove suffered from the power band driveability I described earlier.

The suspension may be LIKE the GTI, but in reality it's VERY different. I actually didn't buy a GTI purely becuase the suspension was too hard, and I was used to Falcadore cushy suspension. The GTI definately has harder, lower springs, and I'd be suprised if the dampners were the same as well, the ride is FAR more sporty over the GT I bought, which is a halfway step from Sportline towards the sports orientated GTI.

As for the brakes, you are correct that the difference is red paint on the GTI.

Oh ok, everything ive read on the internet states that they use the same suspension but i would believe a persons real life experience over the web. I haven't actually driven a GT but ive got the GTI and personally don't see what the fuss is about in regards to the hard suspension (i came from an Audi A6). If I do hit one of those notorious huge pot holes that are so common around Sydney then you do get thrown around a bit, but im yet to travel in any car which can soak up such a big hole with out noticing it..

Also I parked next to a GT the other day at my local shopping center and i could not tell a difference in ride height, (it must be like a 5mm difference max).

So has anyone found out yet when VWA are likly to release a retail price for the GTD. Also does anyone know if the perordered models will be delivered when it is first release or will we have to wait until some stage after the orders like the tiguan. Which apparently when it first came out dealers were give a set batch of cars and they could not place specific orders until after the release. Any info anyone can provide would be great.

Saw a silver GTD in Fairfield going along the Horsley Drive...sorry no pics, was driving. Whats the ETA on the GTD, same time as Golf R (June-July)? Must say it was easy to differentiate between the GTD and GTI, the silver grill band is quite notcieable and it looked like it was running on a higher suspension setup than the GTI. Also the different wheels give it away.

These pics were sent in to me last night. The car was first sighted on the M4.

It would seem there's not long to go now until the Golf GTD goes on sale in Australia.
