Good luck bgcarter1. I have been super impressed with the DSG tune. I reckon its worth doing. It did take me a while to notice a difference at first.

Bump for update with new GTI steering wheel installed to car. See first post for details and now includes a pic.
How about some pics? :)
...and a little write up with some of the challenges you ran into along the way. Certainly worth sharing in case someone else is looking at doing this mod.

Have you noticed any difference in the frequency of DPF regens after the tune?
OCD Note: Yours is a Bluemotion Technology model, not a proper Bluemotion
Damien, I have done a little write up. See the first post. I'll try and do the pic's after work tonight.
True.
However it was not standard at the time of manufacture but a dealer option. And the dealer had the optioned ticked.
It has a Bluemotion badge on the back of the car.
And I only found out that there was a actual Bluemotion model out by reading someones build post recently.
And as for the DPF regen I don't think I've seen it happen. It gets a spirited drive usually at least once a week (being late to work) which I hear helps clear it out. Does it show up on as a dashboard waring light?
Thanks. I guess from your location that a decent amount of your driving is highway rather than mainly suburban?
I've rarely seen a light except recently when ours has needed a run up the freeway to clear but more often, a high speed fan will be heard running after the car is turned off and you can smell fuel being burnt as it does an active regen.
As for the badge, I'm pretty certain you'll find that it has the word "Technology" (in much smaller font) underneath the "Bluemotion"

Yes quite a bit of highway driving but some town driving too.
Ah I have heard the fans go on sometime after I've parked my car but I haven't smelled any diesel. It was explained to me that it was the fans cooling the engine down.
I am not saying that my car is a Bluemotion model. Just that my car has Bluemotion. It's no different than in your signature saying how you have electric windows or ABS. It's a feature on the car that not all car's might have and you want people to know you have it.
No warning light but I can tell when mine's doing a regen because the idle RPM is higher (about 950 as opposed to just below 800), the oil temperature tends to be a bit higher than usual and the exhaust has a hot burning rubber kinda smell...
I guess you get the burning rubber smell a lot with all that zooming out of roundabouts :)

Nice to see some good, real advice given on this thread in regard to tuning.
The good news is as far as my research can tell, the only difference in a mk6 era 103/GTD is a turbo and manifold, which goes about $800 on ebay for low km versions, and a tune, which I know the programmers behind RD Technik can most certainly handle, and just a tweak to what you already have too.
There should be no difference in regen frequency from RDT at 460nm, the DPF is taken into account ( limiting factor as previously pointed out )
I'll be doing that exact turbo mod in the next few months, as my 103 Yeti needs more go.
Nice to see some tweaked TDIs.
