    Golf Boot Liner query

    Guys
VW offer 3 different types of boot liner for protection - hard plastic ($360), rubber ($180) or high density foam ($120)

As I am worried that the foam one might damage too easily (heavy items or "corners"), I am thinking about the rubber one ( plastic one way too expensive).

Has anyone had experience with how durable the foam one is and can anyone who has the rubber one tell me if it covers the full boot floor area (or just partially)

I have the foam one in my car. And its pretty durable. I have had bikes and boxes and bags and swimming gear lying on it and it hasn't started to show any signs of wear. It actually doesn't look or feel like foam either. But if you play around with it you seen relise that it is.

So yeah. Its not bad. I would personally love to have the hard plastic one. But I got it for free, so I cant complain.

If you want pics of the foam one, let me know and I can take some and upload them?

The hard plastic tub is really good. I carry a large dog in the boot and he can dig his nails in the tub and slobber all over it and it doesn't matter. Although he does still manage to get hair on the back of the seats and slobber on the rear headrests. Ah well - it wipes off.

The only problem with the tub is that if you need the fold down the rear seats to get something large into the hatch, then the tub lip will get in the way. If I need to do that, then I take the tub out. Defeats the purpose, somewhat. Maybe I need a foam liner, too.

I have the foam one in my MKIV and have had for about 2 years.

It is surprisingly durable with no signs of wear.

BTW I have tried the one out of my MKIV in my MKVI and it is almost a perfect fit...just the corners near the back seat are slightly different but the size is identical.

How high is the Lip on the edge?

Would it be enough to contain a busted 1L,2L or 3L milk bottle in your shopping?

If you want to protect the cargo area (incl sides which do get marked by suitcases etc) buy a $5 tarp from Bunnings.

Waterproof, can be cut to fit, seamless, cheap

Did this for my GTI and when I sold it the cargo area was as new !

okay if you want somehting thats a bit more "fancy" than tarp or a supercheap auto mat then the rubber liner from VW is an option. It seems RRP is 180. I've been quoted 178. What have people paid for the rubber boot liner...?
