If you have a dog forget the preformed liners, useless (I find then pretty useless in general)

Buy a cheap tarp from Bunnings and run it up all sides of the cargo area

Will give a lot more protection, far cheaper, multipurpose

Had one in our GTI for three years and kept the cargo area as new

You can get pretty creative fitting it, I even had dome buttons to attach it to the sides

I hate cargo boxes in boots. Thought it was a good idea in our Forester and scored a Subie specific one off eBay

Used it 2 or 3 times and found it annoying (cluttering up the rear

I purchased a boot liner from a supplier in WA, on evil bay. 95 bucks plus 15 postage. fits well and rubber, very happy.

Just received one from EBAY, $65 it is made of the same foam type material as the cheaper VW one but the top is covered in a velour like material. Has a lip around the edge and is waterproof and fits nicely and certainly looks better than plain rubber or plastic.

Doesn't protect the sides - looks good though but what does it protect ?

Trouble is, spill a liquid on it and it is a pita to clean. Better off, if you only want coverage of the bottom of the cargo area, is to get a rubberised or plastic one that is easily cleaned.

You are right a spill wont just wipe off but the benefit of this one is that it does soak up the spill, plastic ones will contain small spills but anything else will simply go straight over the lip the minute you take a bend or accelerate/brake hard. this one hose off and leave in sun for an hour and she is as good as new.

Has anybody got the genuine rubber boot mat? We specified "rubber boot mat" in our contract for a 90tsi wagon, and it looks like we've been given a cheap looking/feeling plastic thing. Even though "GOLF" is moulded into the mat, it doesn't look genuine (which we didn't specify) but the important point is that I doubt that it's rubber. The dog slides all over the back like he's on tiles...

Can somebody help - is the genuine article obviously rubber?
