I've come to the GTI from three Hondas - the last being an Accord Euro. Great cars all, but I don't regret the VW purchase for a moment.

And here you are with another Veedub, so the experience can't have put you off them for life.

Went for the test drive on Saturday. The MK6 cabins feel so much nicer than my MKV!! And the interior was super quiet. But this being the base model did have a few disappointments like the cheap fabric seats and plastic steering wheel. Air con was nice and cold.

The engine was ok I suppose. Brilliant for a 1.2L. You could keep up with traffic easily but you needed to rev it a bit. My average fuel usage throughout the test drive, which involved mostly main roads (~60km/h) was 9.0L/100km, which was a bit disappointing.

Overall don't think I will upgrade soon as I love the torque of my TDI too much but if I was a new VW customer then would def consider although the dealer didn't seem too keen on lowering the price from the RRP on the VW website.

    77TSi Golf [Options available]

    Hi all,

What kind of options are available on the new 77tsi golf? Had a look at a few threads here and people say sport package is available and on vw site say's no. Looking at the following vehicle for my daughter with a more appealing look, she wants a golf r or gti!! HELL NO!!
Haven't been to dealerships as yet just looking online atm.

Can only get the spots pack on Comfortline Golf.

The 77TSI is very basic, you should be able to put a pack on to upgrade it in a few ways to the next level.

I'd start looking at a 90TSI or a 77TSI Polo. The 77TSI Golf is really crap for what it is, that plastic steering wheel is just Yuck! But still nicer than a Corolla Ascent.

I agree, have a look at Golf 90TSI comfort line, it's not that much more, and if you buy car for 5 or more years, make it a bit more nicer to live with it.

It's always nice to see that parents are buying a new car for their kids. My wife was driving 1999 Forester and my youngest 07Golf TDI, some people couldn't understand...

It's only money and not everything in our lives is replaceable.

Hey deejay350sl, I've merged your thread into the existing thread. As per everyone's responses, there are no options for the 77TSI, as it's meant to compete against the entry-level Toyota Corolla, Mazda 3, and Ford Focus. It's already causing those companies a worry, because they've started lowering their prices/including more features.

If you'd like to add options, realistically you should just look at the 90TSI Trendline. This year the Trendline models have more standard inclusions to help differentiate them from the 77TSI, so they're much better value for money than they were on release.

I ended up getting a 90TSI with the comfort pack for well less than $30k just before the 77TSI came out and I think that it is basically what the 90TSI is now. I wasn't looking for real power or boy-racer handling - I already have most of that in our other car - but rather a Golf that cruised quietly with good comfort on the rather patchy roads I tend to end up on with my work, and with extra good economy. I just pay cash for our cars and had the money and desire there for a GTI or R but could see it being wasted for how and where my wife and I are using this car. Now at 18,000km we have no regrets. A friend recently bought a new base model Impreza for $23990 drive away with alloy wheels and bluetooth, and mostly I prefer our Golf although I do miss the AWD at times on wet roads and her Impreza is even quieter than our Golf, which I thought was pretty hushed over most surfaces.

Hello, The 77TSI only has the option of colour. No other optins are available to be added (from the factory at least).
