Does that issue really still apply with modern cars? Like, since the invention of the 'clear coat', as long as you polish your car every 6 months and ensure the integrity of your clear coat, the paint underneath is pretty much well protected.
Either way - Black is far harder to maintain than white. Even just washing a black car is a more difficult task as black not only shows scratches more easily, but also shows swirl marks so easily. White traditionally 'masks' swirl marks etc.
