Ok...thanks for the response MK R. VW have come back and advised the parts no charge on good will. That leaves me paying $1800 for labour which they won't budge on. Obviously a better outcome than the original $5400 but still just leaves me exasperated. Engine pulled off inside 3 months and recall inside a couple of years...how much has that contributed to this? How many piston problems are out there? Clearly with paying for parts there is an implied responsibility for the problems? I have little choice but to move on from the Golf now. Love the style oft the car and engine but my wife refers to it as the lemon and I have little to offer in defence anymore.....

Yeah, it's a shame they designed such a cool engine and cheaped out on the quality of a few key parts. They can be made into strong, reliable engines with a little work. I'd be relatively happy with the $1,800 bill. Now your decision is whether to sell out or stick with the devil you know... The 2.0 TDI Mk6 was a pretty tough little car, they didn't have too much wrong with them. You should have a decent sales pitch for a new owner with a VW rebuilt engine!

Yeah....unfortunately this makes the decision for us. Wife won't touch VW again. I am not naive enough to think there are not dissatisfied customers of all brands but I guess all we can do in the future is to ensure a long warranty and sell before warranty runs out! I will miss the Golf but at least we have some bargaining power now for a trade-in.....not sure it will be too much though!

Michael, did they tell you which part of the engine needed repairing?

So they are just about finished doing the work on my car and they tell me the dual clutch needs replacing at $2000! Not getting that done. Of course that will mean our trade-in value dives even further. Cannot get rid of VW quick enough. My wife will be so happy to get this update!!!

I contacted them today, they said they will call me tomorrow about the loan car.

Also, I want more information about the 24s4 campaign, does anyone know where I can find information about it. I asked VW contact centre about the service campaign and she said no there is none on your vehicle....which I find abit hard to believe considering its a 2010 golf tsi engine code CAVD.

So far diagnoses is low compression in cylinder 4, misfire in cylinder 4. Not sure what this means???

I also have three different recall stickers on the car done on different dates. I was told by vw that there was only one recall on my car which was for dsg. She said she looked into all her systems and couldn't find any more recalls apart from the one.

    I need help😫😩😫😫
I have been without a car for three months, I keep forgetting I have a lemon.

Low compression means almost certainly a piston has cracked when it comes to this engine - which probably means a new engine. You may get lucky and the piston hasn't scored the cylinder wall - but usually they do and the result is a new base engine with VW.

Oh wow really?? Can't they rebuild the engine.

What is the 24s4 campaign?? The car has only done 57ks. I think this should be covered by the manufacturer. This car is not even half way through its life. Should I prepare myself for a fight with vw. Seriously what the hell?
