How so? Both systems have a solenoid at the rear of the car, one is locked all the time except when a button is pressed at the front of the car and the other is unlocked all the time when the car is unlocked. The single wire that runs to the front of the car is not going to cause a rattle and neither is the switch in the door.

So like, now someone has posted a photo (thanks mr gee - I can confirm the MKIV Polo GTI works exactly the same way) and someone else has read the manual to confirm that's the correct method (thanks GTI-mk6), can I close off this thread now?

Or do people still have several pages of complaining to do about how it could have been designed better?
