You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.
Hi all question,
Does a stage 2+ for the R with DSG ok for a daily and 6 times a year to track. Or is one better with stage 2 only with all hardware??????
Intercooler, carbo air box, exhaust full (is it too noisey with drone!!!!!! compared to ome),fuel pump.
Look forward to outcome of the stage3.
DSG is fine for daily driver even with Stage 3, as long as you dont mash the accelerator from every traffic light. If you intend to do that, or track it, then upgraded clutches would probably be necessary. Stage 2 for occasional track use may be ok (depends how long the sessions are I guess).
Stage 2 only requires the divorced downpipe - but air intake, intercooler and full exhaust is recommended.
Stage 2+ is the same but with the upgraded fuel pump.
At this stage there is no APR full exhaust. I asked Guy_H about an RSC exhaust for the Golf R in another thread and he seemed to indicate that'd have to wait for the APR boys over in the USA. Unfortunately the Golf R isn't available in the USA yet, so I don't know where that leaves us prospective Full RSC exhaust Golf R customers.
I had the APR 3" Full Quad Exhaust on my MKV GTI. It was a piece of art which felt wrong to put UNDER the car. It's sound was also great both inside and outside of the car. But, I wouldn't do it again, because it was constantly louder inside the car. On my R I'd only consider an APR RSC exhaust as when you take your foot off that accelerator, the RSC's quieten up
Guy_H,
I see you've dumped the active dampers for the JIC-Cross coilovers with H&R solid adjustable sway bars.
Question?
Did the removal of the electronically controlled dampers throw a warning light in the dash?
Did remove of the OE active dampers require any warning light eliminations?
Did you remove the damper wiring or tape it up around the chassis?
Cheers.
WJ
Thanks for the info. The downpipe will do the job. looking forward to R. and stage two will also be fine.
Excellent information. DSG ,this sounds like it can also be upgraded clutch assembly. Track days will be limited to say 6 a year with short sessions only it is still a road car. So fitting the D down pipe is the go as there is no RSC exhaust at this stage plus the other hardware. Any how I imagine it will sound great with divorced downpipe and not to loud in the cabin and can enjoy the drive. with the tis 2.0 engine it can be tuned with ease compared to r36.
I m'not masher of the accelerator but understand the meaning.
So the plan is to install, inter cooler.D downpipe, tune stage 2,air intake may be fuel pump as a later option.
Cheers
Yeah, you can upgrade the DSG, but to be honest, I haven't really seen any DSG upgrade information here in Australia. I remember seeing crazy German tuning companies that would have 400KW/600NM+ R32 conversion kits and they'd then charge 2800 Euro for the upgraded DSG clutches (~$4150 without shipping or taxes etc).
I also believe that HPA do clutch upgrades and DSG software upgrades, but don't know if they're in Australia either.
