    yep if decide to keep mine after this time next year will be looking to extend my warranty as well. probably only need 1 year rather than two though.

    I thought I saw something someplace about official VW warranty for around $1300 a year ? ps when had a citroen got contacted by them when warranty was running out. wonder if vw does the same. probably in their interest to

    But yeah good thread as be a few mk6 owners coming out of original warranty I'd say
    Once had a Red mk6 GTI + DSG + leather + sunroof + mdi + towbar

    now have a gorgeous Red Merc A250 AMG Sport

    See the following thread in the Mk5 forum:

    I recently bought the Allianz 3 year extended warranty through Gold Coast VW, for a great price.

    Nearby VW dealer just quoted me $2950 for extra 2 years on my tsi118. Cough Cough. Next breath she said she could do it for $2100. This is for VW extended warranty including roadside assist underwritten by Alliance. Got another 4 months before mine runs out and jut starting to make inquiries now. Will probably jump on board if I can do if for around $1600.
    I'm intrested in what happens with your APR tune. Is the warranty valid?
    The extended one that is.

    I would assume so, given it is an extension to the existing VW warranty, that by all accounts is valid with the APR tune. Will let you know if I hear any different.

    When you say " by all accounts is valid" do you mean that the VW warranty is valid with an APR ECU tune? I was led to believe the opposite.
    Of course the warranty stands if you have a problem other than the engine blowing up, but that's the bit that scares me.

    I would love to find out that I can list the APR ECU tune when applying for an extended warranty through VW/Alliance. It would also be nice to be able to advertise the APR ECU tune along with an extended warranty if I need to sell the car at some point.

    The question of tunes and warranties has been discussed many times in the Tuning and Performance (inc ECU upgrades) forum - have a search through there. Also see this post ref whether mods may be covered or not under the factory warranty.

    The Allianz extended warranty is generally purported to cover you under the same terms and conditions as the original factory warranty (although no doubt there are exclusions, so it'd pay to look at the PDS very closely). When you apply, they do explicitly ask you what mods have been made to the car, so presumably depending on the level of modifications you've made to your car, they'll inform you of either ineligibility or else limitations to the cover. No guarantees though. If you're concerned, ask the broker through which you buy the warranty - they're obliged to give you that information.

    Mine was around the $1600 mark for 3 years up to 100,000km. However bear in mind that they care about your car's age, model, kms travelled and options when they give you a quote. I have a highly-specced GTI that does very low km; at the same time I had a similar quote done up for my dad's CC V6, which is only a couple of months older, and the quote was very nearly double. (Mind you, he does ~30,000km per year, and of course there's more to go wrong with a CC.)

    We got a pretty competitive deal on Allianz 36 month/100,00 and 36months/160,000 on MY09 TDI 2.0 Comfortline. Ended up taking the 36/160,000. PM me if you want a contact.
    You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

    I got a quote on a few extended Allianz warranties (which she is going to hold the price on for me until the end July) and just thought I'd share;

    24 months Extension of Time from Allianz for $1376.93
    36 months Extension of Time from Allianz for $1492.86
    36 months 75,000km for $1607.70

    As I figure by the time the car is nearing 6 years old I'll have done more than 100,000kms (for the extension of time warranty) I will probably go with the third option that has the additional kms.

    I got the quotes through;
