I got the same thing, if you service your car with them they throw in the extra 3 years, however there are a lot of conditions as its offered by them solely.

VW from my understanding do offer a VWAus back extended warranty that is the same as the initial warranty (minus the VW assist) and can be taken at any time during the 3 year initial warranty if you wish to do so.

VW Australia offer a "Volkswagen New Vehicle Extended Warranty" for a further 3 years/60,000Km (to a max of 100,000Km) after the initial 3 year new car warranty runs out.

It is an insurance policy underwritten by Allianz Insurance.

It is transferable to a new owner when you sell your car.

It is very similar to the initial warranty except it doesn't have a roadside assistance component (which is available separately at extra cost). It does allow your car to be repaired by the the selling dealer (preferred) or else the closest licenced repairer of your choice.

It is better than most "dealer" extended warranty (read the fine print on both and evaluate the differences for your individual circumstances, particularly any selling dealer-only servicing and repair requirements).

As it can be sold by any VW dealer to anyone anywhere in Australia it is worth shopping around to get the best price (a search on this forum might save you several hundred dollars).

As an interesting aside, you can also buy it for non-VWs. I recently bought it for my Skoda Octavia.
2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

Smile Quotes for 3yr extended warranty

I joined this forum today after finding it whilst searching the web re.options in purchasing an extended warranty.I notice that there seems to be a large difference in quotes given for the same product.I have been quoted +-$2500 for my new Golf 103TDI.I think this is a bit expensive.Any ideas welcome! Thanks.

Welcome and may I direct you to this thread:

    http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f15/...nty-28828.html

The two people to talk to regarding 3 yr warranties are:

Jaz from Southern Classic Cars in Woolongong - Salesperson

    or

Jamil from VW Denlo Parramatta - Business Manager

Get a quote from both and buy from the cheaper one.

    Definatley call Jaz from Woolongong.

I just prchased a 3yr extended warranty for the DSG R32 5dr for $1417. The original warranty had expired a month ago and they still let me purchase the extended warranty!

    Peace of mind!

The dealership I just signed up with is offering 3 year warranty on GTI for $1980 with Street Legal tinting thrown in as an end of financial year sale offer. Seems decent considering I am after tinting anyway.

I'd cancel it if you can.
If you take that up, you'll be paying apprrox $500 too much.
A tint for all windows is approx $250-300.
The extended warranty from Jamil of Denlo or Jaz from SCC combined with the $300 tint will still be a lot cheaper than the dealership offer. And you will know what you will be getting with the tint.

Some dealers cheat by using the cheapest tint available while still charging for the premium product - this is one of the ways they make a profit. They are hedging their bets that you will sell the car way before the tint craps itself - usually in 3 - 4 years.

Thanks, I didn't go through with it in the end as I wanted to wait till closer to the 3 year period before outlaying the money.
