I've had the car 2 1/2 months and this is the second time it has done it. I'm at the lights, they go green, I go to take off and ... nothing. I always have the stereo on so I just didn't notice the engine had died. I can't remember if there were any warning lights on the dash.
While this is annoying, what is worse is that the first time it happened, I couldn't start the engine up straight away. Some bright spark in Germany decided that it would be a bad idea to be able to turn the key forward to start it up (as you would when you first put the key in). Instead, you have to turn the ignition all the way off, then you can turn it forward to start it up. Took me some time to work that out. All the while my fellow motorists behind were encouraging my efforts with yells and horns. To be fair, if I was behind 'me', I'd be doing the same.
Even when it happened last night, I instinctively went to turn the key forwards to start it. Only after a number of attempts did I remember the 'correct' way of starting it.
For those that think I may have stalled it... not possible. I always put it into neutral while I'm at the lights. Has this happened to anyone else? I hope this never occurs while I'm actually driving.![]()
