Exclamation End of Warranty concerns 118 TSI 09

    Hi guys,

Unfortunately my 118 TSI '09 Golfs three year manufacturer warranty is finishing up this week.

I have been in touch with my dealership multiple times over the past two months to arrange a service prior to the warranty running out. Here's the problem:

Dealership insisted that I book it in as close to the warranties expiration as possible as they run "diagnostics" to determine any faults. My vehicle has already had its entire engine replaced due to a sensor failing and the piston overheating and damaging? It also suffers from the supercharger squeal and my DSG shudders particularly in second gear and makes a terribly loud crackle / ticking noise when turning hard. If I take out an extended warranty they will not cover any existing faults, does this mean that VW is responsible for replacing / rectifying the issues as per a manufacturer’s warranty?

At this stage I’m thinking about heading to VW Australia to see what they can do for me since I have campaigned from the beginning that I received a "lemon".

    Supercharger squeal:

VW dealership identified it as a reported fault however no permanent fix was available (Oct 10)

    DSG Shudder

A separate VW dealership had it for a week to investigate, put 1000 km's on the odometer and re-flashed the ECU - no change.

    DSG Crackle / Ticking

Took a VW Mechanic for a test drive - he indicated that it was a "normal" sound and was probably due to the DSG changing gears.. I had the window down yesterday, full car of work mates, turned right and it happened - it was loud enough for everyone to comment on.

I have been in discussions with the Dealer Principle of the VW dealership some time ago in regards to replacing / upgrading my "lemon" however he could not give me a good enough deal, still wanted to charge me 10k extra for a stock GTI even though I paid more for my optioned 118 TSI.

Any advice would be appreciated as I dont want to be stuck with the costs of maintaining a faulty vehicle.

The existing faults should be covered as they were discovered / reported during the warranty period.

I would confirm with the dealership what the actual end of warranty date was because when I took mine the warranty had finished 2 days earlier than what was expected.

Have a chat to the contact at the dealer, then put all the resolutions & promises in a dot-pointed email & ask them to confirm within 48 hours & that no reply also indicated confirmation.
