Edition 35 timing belt

Does the edition 35 have the same timing chain issues as the GTI

Yes, the same issues with the timing chain tensioner. Get it checked to make sure you have the latest revision and even with the latest revision of the tensioner keep an eye on it. After all, there were 4 revisions, so who knows?

No - the edition 35 uses a slightly detuned Golf R engine and they run a timing belt.
