Yeah I had the car for about 1/2 hour - 1 hour, DCC was awesome. I originally said no.. but on the way home and the next day I changed my mind cause i thought it would be silly not to get it.

If you have the cash for it, It makes the car that much better imo.

I love the contrast modes of comfort and sport.

Soft and plush like a big ass commodore in comfort, then stiff springs and steering in sport.

If you didnt notice it though, its probably not for you.

So it varies the spring rates as well?

Like Coreying, I thought the difference between the ACC settings were obvious, even after a 20min test drive. The comfort mode is especially good for Sydney roads.

I ordered it for my wife's car with no hesitation and I think you would be mad not to.

It works very well and is a bargain.

I don't know guys if it was mentioned here or not, but there is something to keep in mind that if you keep the car with ACC for long time and you would need to replace shockers for whatever reason (worn out, leaking or bent after you hit a curb), they will be very expensive items since the strut contain microcontroller.
So what is today $1500 option might be $4,000 + repair if you need all 4 when you done 100-160,000 km. If you drive a lot, consider extended warranty.

They are a wear item and woudn't be covered under extended warranty I would assume.

Extended warranty would be worth it for other items as well, and not many people would keep the car over 5 years and do a heap of km.

One reason 118TSI won best cars 2009, was due to "Much improved suspension"
Although ACC not mentioned in article, I strongly suspect was fitted. NRMA report was for ACC in 'Auto" mode.
However I hope cost of replacement (quote, $4000+) is a pesimistic evaluation.
Re electronics in shock absorber, I think just an accelerometer, and of course, an electromagnet. Eg, computer as seperate module. (I hope not like Mercedes, one very big module, does just about everything, and a fortune to replace.)
I also hope that if something just falls to pieces in one shock absorber, eg, electromagnet or accelerometer open circuit, this should be covered by warranty. (Extended warranty included in my order)

I wouldn't expect there to be too much of an additional cost to replace suspension parts unique to the ACC set up. Now it may be $4000+ to replace the system but that's not the same as long-term maintenance.

Struts and shockers are replaced as a pair unless car traveled something like 10-30,000km and since you have electronic component that can fail inside, the strut that would be covered by the warranty. Of course if they're just worn out at 150,000km that's a different story.

There is enough pictures on the net and the module that is sticking out of the strut looks too sophisticated for it to be just an accelerometer or an electromagnet.
But hey, it is a safety componnent and if it saves you once, it's worth it.
