I thought that might be the case. Thanks. It could also be that the dsg oil is gettng old 3yrs old car. Or that it needs an adaptation. Cheers.
thats usually the 2nd -1st downchange which ive found noticable in nearly every DSG ive driven

Could be both of these things contributing actually. I've heard a case recently of a car repeatedly jolting and lurching when it drops from 2nd to 1st gear in traffic, which has been (understandably) causing the owner some grief. I'd say that in the majority of cases a DSG reset + adaption will do the job, and that it's simply down to the DSG getting the clutch pressures wrong on that change, but many 2010 cars are coming due for their 60,000/4yr DSG service and oil change soon too, and old oil may be contributing in its own way.

Ok guys I am a newbie (I've only owned my 2012 Golf 103TDI for a year now) so admittedly I don't know a great deal about the DSG but one thing has been bugging me: Sometimes when I drive my car on a flat road (usually first thing in the morning) and steadily accelerate from 4th to 5th gears at about 50km/h, the car momentarily hesitates to change into 5th gear and briefly shudders/jolts a few times before switching into 5th. For some reason it only happens when going from 4th to 5th or when cruising on 4th. Do you guys think there is a problem with my DSG/mechatronics unit?
Forgot to add that I've told VW about this prob and they keep 'assuring' me that's its normal for the DSG and end up resetting it. I kicked up a stink at my last service because it kept happening so the techs took it out for a test drive. Of course they didn't find anything wrong with it and told me they couldn't do anything if they couldn't see the problem first hand. They even said it'd be better to let it get worse before bringing it in again. My only concern is that I'm halfway through my warranty already so if the DSG dies after it expires, I'll be up for a ****load of cash. Any advice?

My gti is Nov10 built and a few weeks ago at 28,000km I had the dsg fluid replaced at Mike Webber Prestige n Performance.
Before the change I had minimal issues, like rather loud clunk when selecting dsg mode at stationary, fluid leak over time tru the pressure valve cap and clutch slip once. Also launch ctrl used 8 times max since new on the 1/4m strip.
I remember watching Best Motoring show on youtube, the owner of Spoon (Honda famous tuner) said that gearbox oil actually gets worked out as harsh as engine oil. Yet engine oil is changed frequently but gearbox is often neglected.
After the fluid change, OMG car has been running smoothly like new!!

Aaaah. So if the mechatronic has been replaced within a few months, maybe it's just had many drivers and an inconsistent learning regime, in which case it's got itself a bit out of whack.
I believe that a mechatronic replacement necessitates an oil change (can someone confirm this)? I know that oil flows near or through it (the thing's full of solenoids and actuators and so on), so you would think so.
