So 2 DSG's owned and 2 replacement mechatronic units replaced. And if they had been the 7 speed dry clutch version being discussed here you could add a couple of clutch packs to that. You are a forgiving man. Imagine the cost and inconvenience if your cars were to be taken to 200,000km? Most conventional autos and manuals would need no more than a couple of cheap gear oil changes to that distance. And as boring and ancient as the Golf manuals are they do seem to be fairly reliable (and nice manuals to use as a bonus).
It does appear though that the 6 speed DSG is more reliable than the 7 speed but with a much higher 60,000km service cost.
