Oh hey, I've got that EXACT problem, doesn't really bother me, but missus said drives her nuts.
Sometime there's the clunk and then the brake "grinds". Only happens when brake and reversing.
Makes me think that the brake pad/caliper is shifting when the rotor changes direction (reverse) and brakes applied.
My brake pads are low, so I'll see if it's better after changing the pads.
As usual, VW said it didn't notice anything when I mentioned it last service.
Should have nothing to do with DSG as it can happen 10 seconds after shifting into reverse, whereas if DSG related, it'll happen when shifting.
