My wifes 2009 Golf TSI broke down. The engine starts, and revs normally, but no matter what gear you place it in, the car does not move.
We tried turning the car off and on, and still nothing. VW assist sent out the repair man - who shock his head and said "it will have to go back to the dealer", so they sent a tow truck to pick it up.

The car had a new clutch fitted at 12 months, and a replacement engine at 18 months. And of course there is still the turbo/supercharger/squeal.

It will be interesting to see what VW says tomorrow.
Hi, Sorry to hear about your troubles. Is your Golf a DSG or a manual gearbox?

CBF going back but add me to the list of people who've had that DSG issue like Rexman!

Was cruising home the same way I do every day, not giving it any stick. Casual left hander, brake a bit then cruise as turning. DSG was def in N and revving its tits off with me going no where. Lifted off and resumed in 3rd or 4th like nothing ever happened. Bizarre!

Only time it's done it in ~6000kms

I just had a DSG revving moment myself.

I was driving on the M4 stuck doing 70 in a 100 zone... I changed lanes and buried by foot to jump in a gap. Golf is now coasting & revving... brown trousers moment & definitely not in gear. I then lifted off completely and put my foot down about 75%... DSG then grabbed a gear and I was off.

One thing I did notice is that I felt a click when I changed lanes. Upon investigation when I got home (having a spare set of pedals helps) I found there is a switch that will click when the pedal is at 100%. Not sure if that had anything to do with the revving.

I will now be dropping a few gears or grabbing sport before changing lanes. Car has done 900kms. Apart from that one incident the DSG has been fantastic.

Heh, that's the first case I've heard of that occurring on a 7sp DSG... thus far the reports were only on the 6sp DSG, and even then only on the R

Mine are becoming more frequent. I didn't have any issues in the first month or so then in the last couple of weeks its happened 4 times. Might just have to leave it in S as I've only had the issue in D.

Well I just copped it again tonight coming home from UNI.

Bit disappointing because up until now I have dismissed it as only being a software issue.

The reason I say this is because it always occurred at slow speeds in D.

Well today in manual mode, going from 2nd to 3d, i changed gears at around 6000rpm and it just slipped and banged and finally grabbed a gear.

So I have decided that now it is serious enough to ask it to be fixed.

It is an issue for some people and next person who says it isnt is getting a roundhouse.

Mine did it while stationary. Had to restart the car to get it to work. Posted up a few months ago.

Mine has now been shuddering in 1/2 when accelerating after coasting. Doing my head in. Between this, the rattle when I think ithe clutch disengages or something and the stalling..VW can't replicate the stalling, but they should be able to replicate the shudder. I sooo wish I bought a manual now!

It won't go into gear from stationary when it thinks that it's overheating. It's different to not engaging a gear whilst accelerating. Combined with shudder, it probably indicates some hardware issue. Anything from a failing sensor to something more serious.

Love the DSG, the paddle shifts and the sound it makes when changin gears at high revs.

I don't like the head of the DSG gear stick as I have the MY10. MY11's have a different/new design which is the same as the Polo GTI's I think.
