I get that sort of experience also under big lateral grip "events". I figured it was a combo of TC/ESP going nuts and DSG getting confused on what was happening. You sure its clutch slip though?

I may have had a clutch slip in my mk6 118TSI or perhaps a 7speed DSG problem, it happened a couple of times and each was during sharp cornering and accelerating at the same time. I heard banging noise and sounded like the gear couldn't get engaged or something. When I released the accelerator then push it again gently then it went ok.

Have no issues or whatsoever with my Mk6 GTI DSG gearbox

Any VW Service Mgrs on this forum who may be able to comment if we were to bring the R's back to the dealership? Software flash, other, etc etc?

This is a good point dave_r. The "revving out" slipped gear issue is one thing. But some of these comments about clutch slip going around corners are starting to border on the "TC/ESP" cutting in and confusing the DSG + the driver

The issues I've had with the DSG have all occurred whilst driving in a slow, responsible manner.....

It's come to the point where I now turn corners at a slow speed (D) and just touch the accelerator to avoid the 'jolt' into gear.

I don't care what anyone says...this is not normal.

ESP is going to retard the ignition, kill the spark. The DSG shouldn't engage both clutches regardless, IMO. If the DSG has shifted up 'cause you're in Sport and ESP intervention is slowing the car, I would have thought you'd notice?

    Masev,
Unfortunately this is the most common negative comment when motoring Journos review the VW DSG box.
it is a problematic symptom when urban driving in "D"
    It doesn't happen in "S"
so many journos have commented on it that it is rare to find a review that doesnt mention it.

Exactly right! I have had my R for 14000kms and have a mark 5 gti with 110000 kms in the garage and traded a passat r36 with 18000 kms in for the R. Both have/had dsg boxes and they do not/did not behave like my current ride . I have had the car back on 2 occassions and on each I was told that a software upgrade was done. On the last occassion 2 weeks ago I actually spoke to the visiting VWA rep who was visiting and his words to me were that this was a recognised problem now and that the most recent software upgrade "should fix it"!!. Just to be clear it is not normal for your box to actually miss a gear and almost redline whilst it then picks up its next gear......bizarre and very much a problem in traffic!!!! Anyway it is now 2 weeks since my last visit to the servive department and so far so good.

Thanks Benjamin for your supporting post! As I and a couple of others have suspected....a software issue

I have the R booked in 4th March and hope the problem will then be resolved.

    Thanks again for your input

Is there any way to check the oil levels of the gearbox?
