Lol... thanks Maverick. I was thinking more along the lines of an option within the MFD or something which didn't require me pulling the car apart ;)

Just checking back in on this djooz. Can confirm my 118tsi will not allow itself to rev above ~1200rpm with the DSG7 in D or S and a foot even lightly on the brake. So yours achieving 2,500 rpm in this state strikes me as odd. unless you are doing it in N and slamming it to D with the revs up which I doubt. But even doing this in mine drops the revs straight back to about 1k.
Dont worry my DSG is fine. I first did it at much lower revs to ensure it would operate as I expected.
There is a sole mechanical connection between the selector and Gearbox, being the cable for the parking lock.
Everything else is electronic and fully computer controlled. Moving the selector from N to D signals the mechatronic unit the driver has commanded D. It is not going to be actioned by the mechatronic unit until the criteria for selection is met. Hence the RPM drop.
Right then, Thanks for the reply Logger. So do I have a problem? I'll book it in at the stealership....For the record I'm not going from N to D/S, I'm rough with cars, but not THAT rough. Apart from the fact mine is reving a too high (maybe 2.5 was generous, lets say between 2-2.5) no one else experiences this wonderful sound under hard loud pedal in S mode at the gear changes 1/2 & 2/3?
Keep in mind I've never owned an auto, let alone a automated manual, so honestly don't know if this clunk is normal, I vaguely remember the test drive car making a similar sound..... Maybe I'm just paranoid, I don't really want to take it back to the dealership, they are a pack of ***** *****
Thanks

I do not know if it is a problem. I would question why you are not seeing the EPC throttling your revs when you are in gear (D or S etc), stationary and have your foot on the brake though. that does not sound right to me unless they have changed things.
Yes it does. Works very nicely. Reverse a bit, then while still moving backwards, lightly press brake pedal, it will allow you to select D and it will keep rolling backward depending on slope. Then press accelerator, clutch will engage and you will drive of forward. Much like in a manual really.
Cheers, Thanks Logger. Whats the best way to reset ecu etc on these golfs, the usual battery disconnect and leave it for an hour or so? Will this get my car back to a factory default? Sorry to sound stupid, but im a nerd for a living so the factory reset sounds most logical to me, if it can be done.
Don't flame me, my other car is a 94 Nissan Patrol thats mechanical everything....

What should it rev to on launch control logger?
