    No offence if he's still around here and reads this
    Don't worry mate, I'm not still around... much!

    <puts tiara back on>

    Car still does that, though haven't checked since getting the 30k service done - there's a noticeable change in the behavior of the dsg after the service, so not sure whether this little quirk will still be around. Fuel consumption is higher after the service also, yet to see whether it's affected majorly with highway driving, possibly better as seventh is taller. Only drive it on the weekend so tougher to tell the differences in behaviour.

    ... And no offense taken, jerk

    No offense.

    lol no problems. Let us know if you discover any changes with it holding gears after going up steep hills. There has been a software update for the DSG7, but not if it's being applied to everyone, or only those who mention specific symptoms to the dealer.

    Love It

    I have to say that VW have created one of the best gearboxes ever. The DSG has won many awards and in the GTi is an absolute pleasure to drive. It sounds awesome too - try winding all the windows down and then put your foot down through a tunnel

    Hey Guys,

    Just wondering (sorry if I missed this somewhere in the thread already) can you change the shift when using the stick in manual mode so it is pull back for shift up a gear and push forward to shift down a gear??? Surely it is just a contact closure type set up being controlled via computer? I know on the Chrysler 300c you could change this by popping open the console and switch the cables on the shifter. Anyone know??

    That would be awesome. Thats my one annoyance with the dsg 6 speed in my gti. When you are decelerating your body is naturally moving forwards because of the g forces so the gearnob should be pushed forward for down a gear, similarly the opposite is true when accelerating. Let me know if you find a quick fix!

    Yeah I didn't like the way it is either, sounds wrong but feels right as you say (plus that's how racing cars are setup). I just forced myself to get used to it, but that's why I ended up replacing my steering wheel. Now I only use the DSG shifter if changing gear from 1st to 2nd when turning into another street.

    I actually love it this way. My previous car had it the 'wrong' way and I hated it, but what Golf has is for my liking correct.
