Here's my story. Had experienced 3 times where the gearbox disengaged itself (couldn't think of a better word to describe it) with the first 3,200kms. Went to the dealer twice and they couldn't find anything wrong. Then after 2 months since last visit to the dealer I got a call from the dealer that VW headquarter arranged a new dsg gearbox for my car and it has arrived at the dealership (my car is a 90 tsi so a 7 dsg). So I took my car in and got my dsg replaced under warranty.

A rather surprise for me as I have only reported my dsg problems 3 times to the dealer. Anyway, Although the dsg is replaced, I'm still alittle concern as we don't know what caused the dsg disengage in the first place... Hopefully it's not the car's ecu... Well let see how we go, only driven 100kms so far in the new box

Sounds like a reasonable result. I hope your DSG goes well for you now and it's not the ECU.

Sometimes i feel the need to talk about how much i love my DSG. In Drive mode it gives me 7.5L/100km. In Sport mode it will happily rev to 7500rpm- Nanna or Senna, my happy little choice with a flick of the hand. But beyond everything, and this is something i don't think is adequately appreciated in this thread- i love the god damn noise of it when i go fast.

It just makes me happy, the exhaust tone interrupted by the snort between upshifts, especially 2nd to 3rd when i've got the accelerator pedal down past the kick-down switch in Sport mode. Look down and you've doubled the speed limit (which i do not condone) and need to brake, creating the next noise that makes me happy... downshift rev-matching. It sounds powerful and precise. If i could close my eyes, i'm sure i could hear that sound, touch the flat bottom of the steering wheel and pretend i've bought a Ferrari.

The DSG combined with the reverse sensors and auto dipping side mirror give a man the chance to pull quickly up to a wanky cafe in a fast German car, and let onlookers hear perfect heel-toe shifting then see a pristine two-move reverse parallel park that finishes one inch from the kerb. And as much we'd like to pretend otherwise... it's no M3, but we all paid $50k to get a little taste of that sh*t!

I also like manuals. Just not this much.

    Hi all.
Can you change to manual mode (+/-) in DSG while driving (on the move) in "D"?
    Thanks
