my Octavia does this, it is part of the auto locking setting (I think), which is controlled from within the MFD.
Golf R doesn't however, but no doubt there is a vagcom setting for it ..
Hi All,
Attempted to search for this on the forums specific to mk6 golf but couldnt' find anything, also couldn't really find the part in the manual (if any) either so hopefully the good folks on the forum might know..
Basically i seem to recall in my friends older mk5 golf that when the doors are locked, passengers have to double pull the door handle to open the doors (once to unlock another to open). Currently my golf mk6 doesn't do this and i was wondering whether this is still a feature for the golf mk6, whether it can be turned on and where the option might be?
Obviously the risk is if driving, i assume (and haven't tried it) that one pull of the handle will open the door.. the double pull of the handle just adds that extra bit of safety...
Thanks in advance

AFAIK a double pull will do exactly what you say, one pull unlocks and a second pull opens then now unlocked door. (When driving etc)
BUT...
When you LOCK the car with the keyfob the default action is DEADLOCK which disables the double pull thing. You will notice the MFD displays a "deadlock" message when you do lock the car. It's worth noting that if you lock your kids/pets/friends etc in the car while you pay for your fuel/pump the tires up/open the garage or whatever, they CANNOT get out of the car as they CANNOT unlock and open any door.
Pressing the keyfob a second time moves the car into what I will call a "normal lock" where the double pull works as expected and occupants can get out of the car. This should also be the normal state of lock if you press the lock button on your door while driving etc.

Thanks for the replies.. FYI - I've enabled auto lock which works fine by locking all doors after travelling at speed of about 15km/hr...
Interesting re: bluefrogs note on the golf R not doing this.. maybe this feature has been removed for mk6 golfs?

I could be wrong, but am almost certain that after the 15-20km/h self lock, once the car is stationery, if you begin to pull the door handle, it unlocks automatically.
So its locked while its moving, which eliminates the issue of opening while moving.

yeah, the self/auto-lock and the double-pull to open is one and the same feature
