Im 5'9" and I have to have the seat all the way down and the wheel down too. On my mk2, I can't get comfortable unless the seat is at it's lowest. If you raise the seat, it Toyota forward and angles the nose of the seat down.

Mk6 is the same, though not as severe.

Having said that, I can't drive my dads Lexus as my head is about 10mm from the roof! Not fun!

are your knees hitting the steering column? or are you far back enough to swing freely under it?

also what makes a difference , is whether the car is a manual or an auto (of whatever description). I find that I tend to sit closer in a manual, than an auto. Spent a day in a 90TSI DSG (loan car) and had no problems with the seating position,

I have my seat all the way back, and the wheel out as far as possible, it's height adjusted so the top of the wheel rim is just above my line of sight to the top of the MFI screen (so I can see what gear I'm in). The height of the seat is somewhere in the middle.

I'm 1.8m tall, my knees don't hit the steering column on exit, however my right foot clad in its size 8-1/2 Steel Blue safety shoe often comes into contact with the pocket in the driver's door. It's quite scuffed now, the shoe and the pocket.

5'10", a year on and still haven't found my preferred sitting position. Had this dicussion earlier in the year here, and it was the same problems with the knee hitting the steering column when you get close enough to bend your elbows (with the steering extended and the seat at it's lowest). I guess VW should allow more scope for the seats and steering to be adjusted.

i'm 5'9" and think i've finally found a mostly comfortable position, about 90% as mfl puts it.

basically the trick i found was to raise the seat by quite a bit, which allows you to lift the steering wheel off your knees. it's still not optimal (i'd like to be closer to the wheel, i fail the wrist-over-rim test by a few inches) but at least my legs are comfortable and i can afford to recline enough to stop the headrest banging my head all the time.

the pedals just seem too far forward to me, but again i'm used to a coupe where you seem to have your legs through the firewall
