    Does your dual zone climate control over compensate for sunlight?

    The climatronic system in my 118TSI responds more aggressively to sunlight on the dash than any other car I've driven. For example if the sun comes out on an otherwise cool day I get a blast of cold air from the system that has me turning up the set temperature.

    I've checked the output from the climate control system on VCDS and all the temperatures look reasonable, but the LH and RH sun loading in W/m^2 looks a bit high for this time of year. Does anyone know where the sun loading sensors are located?

    I've got a white car so maybe the system is calibrated for darker colors. It would be good if there was a way of adjusting the calibration of the sun loading sensors or the systems response to them.

    Mine does the same thing. I've had it back at the service department and they tell me there is nothing wrong.

    From my Jetta V to Golf VI the temperature variation is massive the Jetta used to run around with AC on 22.5 the Golf its 24, but it would like 0.5 Degree increments.
    The Jetta's AC was far more stable than my Golf, it would be good to find a solution.

    Don't know but in my 2010 model XR6Turbo Uterus, the dual zone tends to Blast hot air out at an enormous rate, only to switch over to aircon to cool the interior back down when it realises it has gone too far...

    I've found 24 to be a comfortable setting too. This seemed higher than I remember having it set to when I'd been in other cars with climate control, where 21-22 felt natural, but I haven't tried testing anything to see whether the Golf's temperature measurement is a bit off. I suppose it would depend a bit on where the sensors are placed in a particular car and how the algorithm in the Climatronic has been designed.

    I also reckon the Golf deals a lot better with cold weather than hot weather - damned Germans! When I first got my car in May, I thought the Climatronic was the best thing since sliced bread, but now it's been bugging me at times and behaving counterintuitively in the recent Perth weather of 30s during the day, mid-20s at night. (When I say 'deals with hot weather' I'm referring to the decisions made by the automated control of the fan speed and AC - the actual compressor seems as good as any Aussie or Japanese car, and a whole lot better than the Ford Focus I had previously that didn't cope well with temperatures over 30.)

    The only car I have driven with perfect air con was a 325CI BMW. Set it to whatever you want, and it pretty much nails it.

    The Golf R I have ordered has worse air con than my GF's MPS 3, and the MY09 WRX I just sold. On par with our old Toyota camry (almost)!!

    With the Golf R's I test drove, I found it just blasted ice cold air out even when its set to a reasonable 23 (on a 19ish degree day)?? Instead of making it warmer! So yeah I find it WAAAAY off!!

    The thing about the BMW is it really makes the cabin incredibly comfortable without you needing to put the windows down cause the air is so damn perfect in there!

    It is one of the things people comment on when riding in it..

    The MKV GTI I had was perfect for me, whilst I had it from Aug to Jan. Just set it to 22 and leave it. Find it hard to believe they've gone so wrong in only a single revision of models. I'll wait until I've got my MK6 and had a chance to read the manual to ensure I'm using it correctly before commenting though

    The Climatronic in my mum's MkV is great (set to 22 and forget), and so is the system in my MkVI GTI. In the 5+ months I've had my car, I may have adjusted the temperature a handful of times only, and that's typically only because I like driving with my sunroof open - even at night in single-digit temperatures.

    Having said that, the same system in my dad's CC has been the cause of some frustration for him - exhibiting exactly the same symptoms as described by the OP.

    You guys leave your Climatronic at just one setting?

    Depending on the temp outside and how spirited I'm driving, I'm always adjusting it between Low and 22 (warmer for those cold winter starts)
