Yeah, that's my main scenario for wanting larger paddles as well, but if you say they don't help, then maybe I'll save my $200 for another day.
I went with S2T paddles which are very good, albeit expensive. golf.net.au occassionally to a group buy which shares the freight cost.
The only time I have the problem you describe is making a turn from a standstill. At just past the apex, 2nd gear is what I want ,but the paddles are out of reach. Time to use the stick, see how versatile DSG really is!

Drove along Great Ocean Road over Easter and the paddles were so fun to play with.. I wish they were slightly larger/longer.
Deciding between the S2T and Maniacs extension and they both have pros and cons. S2T is better made but you'll need to remove the airbag to change. Maniacs are "plasticky" but easier to install - just stick on. They're both around the same price, +/- $10-20? (after factoring shipping cost)
Not sure if I could bring myself to drop $200 on some "plasticky" stick-on paddles but if I get the S2T, I KNOW I won't get around to installing them..

You also lose the backlit +/- indicators with the S2TT paddles. Just in case you forget what's up/down when you're revving at 6500rpm

my maniacs were $140 off ECS ... ive had both s2t and maniacs. prefer the maniacs for backlit paddle, finish I think is better and ease of install. S2T feel solid thats for sure but lose some of the clicky feel, also the finish was prone to scratches (mine was scratched just in the post but apparently they have rectified the way they send stuff now)
Can these be fitted to Tiguans?
Thanks for the review. I could justify paying $140 for the extensions but the $50+ shipping seems excessive for such a small item.
