so any Don'ts as far as the mk 6 GTI goes ? anythign that hurts the DSG or not good for its longevity ?
Once had a Red mk6 GTI + DSG + leather + sunroof + mdi + towbar
now have a gorgeous Red Merc A250 AMG Sport
When you put the go fast pedal to the floor, towards the bottom you will feel some slight resistance. Apparently at this point you have 100% throttle. Push past this point the dsg will change down if appropriate. Try it out and you will find that you can control the downshift.
I actually don't mind the change down as i can control the kickdown (by not going past the resistance point) but when i want to over take in manual mode i can mash the pedal to the floor and it changes down to the best gear and then i change up manually when i want......the best of both worlds IMO

Use the DSG all the time, very rarely use D as it changes up too quickly for my liking
Manual mode.
D in heavy traffic as it can be jerky if I leave it in too low a gear at low speeds.
Has anyone besides Rob and I ever forgot we were in auto and went tp change gear thinking we were in manual.
I did it once or twice in my GTI as well

D mode just for stop/start traffic, and maybe at some intersections.
S mode sometimes for twisty mountain roads where I'm not held up
Manual mode 90% of the time. Car shifts up too early in D for me.
