If you're comfortable with your sexuality then there's no such thing as a girl's car.

The concern shown over what other people think reminds me of the saying "people who buy cars they don't need with money they don't have in order to impress people who don't care".

Really folks.....Girly??? who the hell cares...the GTI is quick, stealthy and a whole lotta car... so too is any other Golf for that matter... lets leave the gender tagging where it belongs...in the 60's

Oh and yes Phanto it is GTI, we're not talking about Suzuki Swifts here. ... Sorry it's a pet peeve of mine.

I used to drive a 200sx at uni and I always got a "wow, nice car" from guys and girls.
I never get that response with the GTI. Of course, one of the reasons I drive one is that it is stealthy, not showy, to me a bit more mature with 5 drs etc......but I do miss the admirable looks my old coupe used to get. In fact, most people at work who see me drive my new GTI, don't utter a single comment at all, except one chap who was "in the know" about the GTI heritage and its hidden performance.
    Thoughts?

Of course Golfs are "girly" its the easiest way I could think of to sell the idea to my wife. The fact the GTI is slightly less girly helps a lot. It also why my daughter is now thinking of buying one.

    Care factor . . . . . ZERO.

Maybe i should just get a SS V8 Ute and be more manly.
But i reckon the Golf's in general are a bit girly, but most of the alternatives are too bogan (falcadore's) or not fast enough for the same money.
LOL glenn, the question is, is the V8 SS ute "manly" or is it just compensating for the lack of owner's "manly"

(ps, I have a GT-P LOL) (which my wife drives, whilst I totter around in an S3 hatch, which would flog most SS utes))

even my wife refuses to drive an auto!! her daily is a 500hp GT-P with a 6 speed manual and a quickshifter installed too.

you see, I chose very wisely when looking for a life-partner )

When I bought a new MKIII, quite a few people came up to me and asked about the car. I think they really wanted one but weren't brave enough to buy one because there weren't many around especially outside a major city. They would have felt different from their social group all of whom had falcadores or Mitsubishis.

I wouldn't say you NEED hair on your chest. I know of a few quite feminine ladies that drive them.. Some feminine dudes too.

ditto!!!!! I have just come back from the coast across the mountain ranges. My dear one let me drive my ex mark 5 gti which she inherited when I thought i would be happier with a r36 sedan. In one section i had this chap with a big mean looking holden something who came up really quickly on my tail .........so i did what anyone would do and took off into the curves and twists. Suffice to say at the end of it he was no where in sight and i just had a big smirk on my face. The r36?....well i sold that because it just did not do what the old gti does for me....and that is connect driver to car. i am now waiting for my r20 which hopefully be here in 2 weeks
