I see more women driving GTI's than men, perhaps they just pinch it off their whipped hubby for the day?

My golf is definately a girly car, only the fact it has a blokey diesel engine saves it.

I think that it's definitely a girls car. But that doesn't matter to me because despite the fact that I did the new car reasearch, I test drove it, I chose it, ordered it, tracked it's delivery (2-3 times a day) for 4 months, pined for it, paid for it, took delivery (yesterday) and it's registered in my name, I just tell everyone that it's my wifes car.

Even though she hasn't driven it yet.

Nup, since fuel is not a big issue than it was 10 years ago, commodores and flacon with V8, and cheap dashboard would simply cloud everyone else on the market, however since the shift in tastes, Golf type vehicles are now in everyone domain, not just girls. GTI, or a 118 Sports pack, dont look anything like a girls car. Peugeot 207 on the other hand......

I think that reputation may have arisen due to the perception these cars were all "style over substance"... With glowing reviews of the Golf, and now the Polo now surfacing this seems to be no longer the case...

No - just that we can now afford them.

The Golf is definitely not a girly car. Rather, it is more asexual. It is known for its technical, German engineering over its emotional appeal.

My last car, a Honda Jazz, was a girly car!

Rock up in a 2.0 TSI or TDI in red and it might be a girly car. But driving in a CSG GTI with 18"'s and it's not.

I don't consider a Golf a girly car, hot hatch's are pretty popular now...

I'd rather be driving the GTI than a bogan mobile, but a few mods can toughen it up nicely.

You should be confident with your choice and not worry about what other people think.

    I find this thread amusing....

It's like the person who says "Hey, does this jacket make me look cool?" - well, if you have to ask if you're cool, then you're not!

So when you're asking yourself "Do I look like a man in this car?" - well no, if you have to ask, you're a girl

Hence my initial post. I don't at all think that the Golf GTI is a girly car.

Plus, as a few people have mentioned, hot hatches have been around for quite a while and have typically been the domain of men, especially in Europe where they never had the "bogan mobiles" that we have had here.
