Mate, its no use posting obscure publications and drag strip videos ..... LOL ... it creates the wrong impression.
The figures I have are as
PUBLISHED by Motor and Wheels, are what an
average person buying a
stock standard car can expect to get out of it ....
I agree and know for a fact that in the hands of skilled driver those times can be improved upon ... but then again not easily and necessarily repeatable over and over ...
Spent years myself racing at the strip and my 400+HP 800kg FWD MK1 Golf could do 12.3s at 1200m above sea-level where 600hp Skylines and STIs battled to do 12.5s .... fact and I can sure dig up lots of figures and video to prove it ....
Even my modded E36 M3 could do 13.5s easily and on the 1000km top speed runs easily do 280km/h where near stock STIs battled to break into the 13s .....
That ricer heritage is shining through strong here .... I've raced against the WRXs etc for a long time and they aren't that special .... even a mates heavily modded 22B (1 of only 2 in South Africa at the time) couldn't touch the Golf once rolling .... he was so pissed about it he even tried his 2001 Yamaha R1 and that got beaten 40-220km/h by 2 car lenghts as well .... he ended up selling the 22B and got a 930 Turbo ....
EDIT: and by the way, no figures off the net and/or video comparisons can 100% be relied upon because nobody knows whats been done to the cars in question. Somebody might claim its stock whereas on the other hand its not (seen that before) .... the major publications can however be relied upon to test as received from the manufacturer .... even tyre pressures change 400m times ... LOL
