    Deformed GTI rear bumper

Just wondering if anyone else has a rear bumper on a GTI that looks like it's melting? It looks like there is a few bolts pushing through from the inside.

And no it has not been hit, the paint is like new and I'm one of those people who is fussy about where they park their car.

Going to take it back to VW and they will probably say "we have never seen that before" so I thought I'd check on here first

As much as you say it hasn't been hit, that looks like a classic impact mark.

Something has pushed on that portion of the bumper and caused it to push in and touch the bolts behind.

Do you know when you first noticed this? I'm currently in a legal battle with a dealership regarding pre-purchase damage on a 'new' car (the car has been rear-ended on the rear left side prior to our purchase, yet that wasn't disclosed to us)... this might be a similar story if it's been there since purchase.

It does look like its taken a hit, thats what I thought at first but the paint is like new and matches the rest of the car and there is no over spray anywhere. Kinda odd.

could it have been kicked by say a sneaker? that might dent it without damaging the paint. (if it was the soft part of a shoe)

LOL if they did the walked around the other side and kicked it in the exact same spot. Just noticed it's on both sides. More like very average build quality I think.

hmm a thorough vandal? not likely

i think a uniform deformation is looking like a build quality issue
