I always got the impression that the FORD was better built, better handler.. the Holden better to look at and better performing acceleration.

I am puzzled at the difference in numbers between those two as well. I've been in both current models, and I really don't think the difference in sales is in scale with the difference in quality/features/value. Oh well :/
Holden is extremely aggressive in the fleet market. I'd say they feel if they lose the top spot, they'll slip into obscurity.

Also imagine if Ford lost their fleet market, or reduced it. Based on the monthly sales numbers they would be losing their sh*t.

LOL at the fords being better build. I went BA -> BAII -> FG with work cars and I couldn't fit the list of problems they had in a single post. They don't deserve to sell in high numbers because they're rubbish and thats the end of it. Saying that, the Holdens have their own problems like many makes. But in my experience Ford had a high ratio of faults and zero support after the fact which is the key issue.

Yup, heard the same thing from many business associates with these things as company cars.

Majority of those numbers are purely Fleet, but this is where VW are starting to really make some inroads.. on the fleet side of things.. found out VW Barlow sell 1 in 5 VW in Oz.

I'm going to take a good punt here and say that there are more XR6T Falcon and SS Commodore sales than Golf GTIs but they haven't been put in as performance cars and just lobbed in with the general Falcon and Commodore sales.
    Cheers,

That's true, I had 3. And most other people I worked with who had XR6T's or SS's leased them as well. Seems they're fine to abuse, as long as you don't have to the sell the junk after 2 years lol.
