Unless it was written in the contract specifically you don't have a leg to stand on i believe.
I have followed up my order of my GTI with my dealer, and at point of sale I requested to have a rubber boot liner and GTI floor mats thrown in. This was agreed to on the day.
On my pink slip that was filled in on the day, it has listed "Boot Tub and Floor Mats"
I have contacted the dealer to confirm that I would be getting a Rubber Boot Liner and GTI Floor Mats.
The dealer said they would honor the rubber boot liner, however they would not honer the free GTI Floor mats and said that I would just get the plain black ones.
I informed the dealer, that I know for the fact that the GTI comes with plain black mats as standard from the factory, so why would I ask for plain black mats from the dealer to be given for free?
He has scoffed at this and said that they cannot honor this.
What leg do I have to stand on here?

The pink form I have is a contract is it not? I have my signature and the sales reps signature on it?
The argumeant is steaming from the fact that on the pink form (carbon copy) of what I have signed it states:
"Boot Tub and Floor Mats" which at the time I paid no attention to. However it does not specifically state "GTI FLOOR MATS".
But I have informed the dealer that I know that the GTI comes with black floor mats as standard equipment and are not dealer fitted. THe ones I requested were the GTI floor mats, which ARE dealer fitted.

I didn't get a pink form with mine as i did it all via email but since it doesn't say GTI specific floor mats you are legless.
You could complain to the dealer principal about poor practice of the sales person and note that you will not advise other potential buyers to go through them as they cannot sort out basic issues to see if that helps.
Alternatively, you could hit up one of the dealers on here to see if they can offer any assistance.
Im trying to tell the dealer that I did not ask for plain black floor mats because the car comes standard with it anyway! So why on earth would have the sales rep have put it on the form I have signed if the car comes standard with it?
Its like listing Air Conditioning as something I have requested, yet the car comes standard with it?

Without seeing the actual documentation it is hard to give you some accurate advice.
That said, I'd recommend that you try to get the dealer to meet your demands by producing the documentation but to be prepared to cut your losses to save yourself the stress and the bitterness, and instead focus on enjoying your new GTI.![]()

Yeh, we get you (the first time) - unfortunately the dealer salesguy is going to point at the contract and tell thats what you signed. When I bought my R32 they tried to charge me extra for metallic paint until I pointed out to them on their own pricelist that it was a NC option. We aren't arguing with you - but unless it says "GTI Mats" on the contract I think you are SOOL.
Your arguing semantics and its pointless. Letter to the DP should fix this up quickly enough.
After doing something similar (over a different more serious issue), I came out with 15, 30 and 45k services free @ the dealer.

The only real option you have is to contact the dealer principal and argue that you stated GTI specific mats to be thrown in free of charge and they have not included this.
It's then up to them if they are willing to change the contract to meet your requirements and keep your custom or deny it and then have you go elsewhere for servicing and future purchases.
