Models aside, DAB+ units suck. When they are stationary in a house and get a good signal they can be great., even portable units can work well when they aren't moving but my experience has been the portable ones I have are terrible while moving.

When I upgraded the last headunit in the Van I went out of my way to get a digital unit and wish I hadn't. I can't drive 10 minutes in any direction without it dropping in and out (mostly out). I wish I had instead bought the non digital version of the next model up (which was about the same cost) because I find digital useless and would have gotten a larger screen instead.

Really, get the RCD330+ and drop that into your Mk6 for CarPlay and stream your music from there. It's an OEM unit and is basically plug and play (except the OEM camera needs an adaptor) and will give you bluetooth as well (if you don't already have it).

There are plenty of other options for after market units too, but that RCD330+ is pretty tempting (and easy).

I've never had an issue with DAB units that are VW genuine and other manufacturer genuine.

I'm trying to figure out if anyone aftermarket incorporates them into the double din radio units for VW models.

We have had Pioneer in the Multivan since the start. First an AVIC F20BT and now a Pioneer AVH-Z3100DAB which has DAB and CarPlay.
Reception has been terrible in my experience.

As far as I know, unless you go for chinese eBay radios nothing is OEM shaped, but there is off the shelf facia kits that convert that space to standard double DIN:
