You can actually push on the L/H doors and emulate the noise.I showed it to the Service Manager and he agrees. They'll pull the doors in a bit.
Mine has done 15000KM in 18months.

I just had the service and they tightened both L/H doors. The noise first up in the morning seems to have gone.
The creaking noise on right lock is apparently 'normal'.It's the CV joint boot rubbing somewhere....

Not sure if my issue is related to this, but here goes. At my last service a few weeks ago I notified the service guy that there was a clicking/creaking sound coming from the steering (not just at low speed - any turning of the steering wheel, and sometimes just bumps). They investigated at the service and said there was a faulty part in the steering and they have to order the part in. They ordered it in and today was the repair day. They gave me a new 103TDI loan car for the day which was convenient. Repairs now complete, and I am going to pick it up soon. They replaced the entire steering rack!!

Will report back once I get to drive around a bit and test it out. I will try and probe the service guy a bit and get some more information to report back with.

Dealer: Austral VW Brisbane - very happy with them so far.

Just to update, fix went well and noise is gone. Whole steering rack replaced. No further details. Steering seems more precise now, perhaps the faulty part/s were contributing to some looseness.

Mine couldn't be mistaken, it was clear that it was coming from the steering, and you could actually feel a very slight clicking through the steering.

I have noticed a similar noise on slow full lock with mine, yes it was raining but can't see why that is an issue. Car has done just 900klms. I will ask when it goes in for the 1,500 inspection.

Odd sound when steering is at full lock

Hi folks, I had a quick look around and couldn't find another thread on this, so thought I'd ask before taking the car in to the dealers...

I have a MK6 Adidas that's done about 17,000km now and I've just noticed that when turning the car at full lock in either direction (while moving forward or backward) there is a mild grinding noise coming from the front end. I say grinding, but it's more like a ticking as it changes speed depending how quickly the car is moving. I have checked and there doesn't seem to be anything catching on the inner edge of the tyres on either side. It doesn't sound like the heavy clunking you get from worn out CV joins on older cars.

At a bit of a loss as to what could be causing this, and don't know if it has always been there or if it has just developed. I don't have much cause to turn the car at full lock in the course of everyday driving.

    Thanks in advance....

    Chris

Apologies. Not sure how I missed this thread: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...ock-65397.html
