    Aaarrrrgh Clutch is slipping!!!!!!!

There is a Sachs direct replacement clutch that retains the dual mass flywheel and has increased clamping pressure over the stock clutch.

There are quite a few guys in the USA running these on GTI's and R's with good feedback. Im referring to the version that retains the dual mass flywheel, and simply utilises a new clutch plate and pressure plate with 550nm clamping force.

I also got clutch slippage with my stage 1 Bluefin, took it off about 6 weeks ago and haven't had a problem since. I guess it's on the way out, but I'll flick the car before having to replace it. Only at 60 000km as well...

I'm at 100,000 with zero clutch slip. Stage 1 tune.

    Clutch slipping issues on GTI

    Hey Guys,
I've noticed lately that in high gear when the boost kicks in I "think" I'm getting some clutch slip.

The car only has 40,000kms on it but it does have a stage 1 APR map. Has anyone else encountered this issue after so few kms?

I guess the next question is if I have to replace the clutch, what do I go for so it doesn't happen again so soon? The Sachs sport clutch? The Southbend clutch? I'd like to retain as much everyday driveability as possible and avoid clutch shudder if possible.

Looking forward to your input guys as I'm a bit disappointed in this to say the least

    Cheers
    Simon

Mine at 20000km... Got a Sachs ready to go in, just finding the time to get it booked somewhere is not easy. As soon as I bought the Manual R, I realised the stock clutch was never going to take a beating, with pedal feel more like a silk pillow, than the MY01 WRX that I replaced with the R..

Cheers Tony, do you mind me asking where you got the Sachs clutch from and approximately how much?

It was a forum group buy arrangement, honestly can't remember the price ~$800 from vague memory. They came from Europe I believe.

Thanks Tony. Hopefully they retain similar to OEM driveability.

I dug through my old posts, it was on vwgolf net au forum it was organised. For the pressure plate/clutch plate to use the standard dual mass flywheel, the kit was $870 and was this one here: Sachs Performance Kupplung - Verstärkt - Kit 999787 999502 - S-Performance GmbH

Was about $100 dearer thru Sachs, so the group buy was worth it.
